And my narcissistic self.
woohoo!!~
*virtually hugs document*
now i can concentrate in peace to study for my final exam. no worries about stray plots or ideas running around my head like the fiesty bunnies they are.
all that's left of AK to worry about is the online posting of chapter 9 that i'll have to take care of before the last day of february.
off to study now..
but, that's quite a depressing thought, really.
*sigh*

"mah?!"
"moe! the moe!! kya~!! *faints happy*"
"mon ami~! mon ami~!"
ahem *readjusts self*, too much Ouran High Host Club anime is detrimental to one's mental health.
let me go ogle at my dearest tamaki-sama first.
*runs*
TAMAKI-SAMA~a~a~a~~!!!
*glomp!*
I CONDEMN IT NOW ONCE AND FOR ALL!!
ROAR!
got dragged out by ky to scout for a new top for her chinese new year clothes in- of all places-
BUGIS STREET.
i have honestly never been as severely manhandled ever since my entrance into this world some eighteen years ago as i have today.
let's first ignore the fact that we had to wait for TWO traffic lights before we could finally get to the either sides of the road.
oh, the crowd! adult, child, student, bimbos, himbos, biatch wannabes, haggle-rush-maddened middle-aged women, bored male companions (tagalongs? carrier-slaves?) of all shapes and sizes..
oh, the smells! cigarette, insane mix of food fragrance thus-turned-sour, bodily odour, stagnant air due to poor circulation, strange engulfing scent of waiting-to-be-purchased garments (new or previously stashed in storage for heaven knows how long i do not wish to ponder)..
oh, the shops! or was it more appropriate to call them "showcase areas"? for i cannot seem to decide on whether it was that there were too many items in one shop, or that the shop was miniscule to begin with and made everything seemed cramped, or.. perhaps it was both?
oh, the clothes! i am seriously concerned about the path fashion (as people like to think of it) is currently taking. the deranged onslaught of bizarre designs, cuttings, excessive use of lace and frills, not to mention rabid succussion at which the different colours attack an already energy-depleted yours truly.. oh, the horror!
oh, and the shopkeepers! they are a force to be reckoned with! ky mentioned that one lady had automatically lowered the price continuously to almost half it's original to get her to buy the blouse. and we were sure the supervisor at FoxWomen is a transvestite.
ah, do not get me started on the power of being in a group larger than thirty people. it doth compel one to do unthinkable acts of compulsively stepping on others' sandals (or high heels and maybe sneakers, in my case today), immobolising individuals within the sea of stagnantly moving bodies, or sweeping said individual left right in out and away from accompanying friend.
in this case, i am definitely (for once) glad for being less well-endowed.
imagine the trauma of having large women with their humongously grown (or maybe synthetically installed?) upper and lower feminine bits (or blocks, in this case) shoving quite forcibly against- or worse- into you.
yes, it is a much easier way to create an open path for yourself but really, the mental health of half the population in singapore- who had somehow managed to congregate in the narrow crooked paths of the old street- are at perilous stake.
keep your fleshy appendages to yourself, women!
nevertheless, ky and i survived the cutthroat frenzy of the pre-chinese-new-year shopping rush and managed to rest our battered feet and stamina at mos burger for some "refuelling" after she bought a green spaghetti-strapped top at FoxWomen (hence aforementioned "transformed" presently female supervisor).
luckily enough, we made it onto the bus half an hour later before it started to rain.
after today's events, one quote from Oscar Wilde had never made more sense.
And, after all, what is a fashion? From the artistic point of view, it is usually a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.
people are conveniently snatching things up from years back- hell, centuries ago, even- and restoring them as "fashion" (with a french accent, i insist!) to exploit its monetary benefits.
even sleepwear can be passed off as a fashion phase!
what is with you people?! *insert jerry seinfeld intonation*
great. wonderful. let me now applause to that blister now lodged on the outer of my right pinky toe.
*whoops with dripping sarcasm*

anyways.. yay^_^
i got my keita CDs!!
the single had a crack on the plastic cover though, hopefully i can change it for a new one.
went to the orchard library with janice because she wanted to pay a fine for her book but turns out she couldn't because there wasn't enough money in her ez-link.
i ended up borrowing a book that pauline had been searching for in sec2 (though i think she had already read it by now).
it's called "I, Lucifer" by Glen Duncan.
although i've only reached page eleven, i think the rest of the book is gonna be good.
the sarcasm overflowing from the words really appealed to me, and the way the author wrote it made the story feel even more personal.
currently, i like this sentence from page nine:
"... kneecaps only exist to get hit with claw-hammers; grace only exists to be fallen from."
i like the idea of abandoning one's innocence to find out what really lies out there. more often than not, it's better than the mediocre things available in the cocoon we like to call "innocent ignorance".

well, i had been busy with my presentation slides for arts appreciation, which i was doing on leonardo da vinci.
i know my secondary school was totally crazy over him being this all-rounded person but the list of things that he knew is really intimidating.
here are just some among his many skills other than artistic ones:
aeronautics, anatomy, astronomy, botany, civil engineering, chemistry, geology, geometry, hydrodynamics, mathematics, mechanical engineering, optics, physics, pyrotechnics and zoology.
talk about multi-tasking.
anyways, i've finished that presentation today so all that's left now is the main exam coming up at the end of this month.
i've finally gotten around to get my new year clothes.
two tee-shirts, actually, from U2.
i think there's something wrong with me, because you see, i no longer get excited over the idea of chinese new year.
it's as if i can't find any reason to actually do all the shopping, cleaning up and stuff, since all that can be done anytime you want throughout the year.
and i can't understand the hype about this particular holiday anymore, other than the fact that it's a tradition.
honestly, i think i'm growing out of festive seasons.
valentines', christmas, national day.. you name it, and i'll just give you a dead-pan look. i'm like, "big deal. so what?" about those already.
i think i'm getting too old for my actual age.
sl's birthday's coming up, so the few of us tk friends met up yesterday for dinner.
samantha, georgina, bh and sl.. ah~ it's been too long since we've seen each other and it's very comforting to be able to see those few again.
sort of reassures that although things and people can change, what we have with each other has an eternal presence that holds us together.
we had dinner at New York, New York (is that how you put their name?) at city link.
such a crazy time we had, haha.. i guess there are things that will always stay the same.
bh is now trying to learn japanese and constantly asking for my confirmation on her pronunciation, while georgie got obsessed with her cotton-candy-Hollowman. but she got sick of it after we dozens of photographs were taken, and didn't want to eat it anymore.
we have to meet up again, soon!
anyways, back to school stuff, we have to start thinking about our student internship near the end of this year.
i'm quite fixated on overseas internship, especially if i could get a placement in australia.
it's been so long since i've stepped out of singapore that i've forgotten how my passport looked like.
hopefully i'd get to go *crosses fingers*
I WANNA GO OVERSEAS STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME!!
side tracking a little, keita's (from w-inds.) solo single and album have finally arrived since i ordered them around FOUR MONTHS AGO.
about bloody time, i says!

WONDERLESS WORLD:
see these places before they fall off the face of the earth.
(as selected by Wish magazine)
1. Kauai's North Shore, Hawaii
high-rise buildings are encroaching on this previously unspoilt coastline.
2. The Maldives, Indian Ocean
global warming may drown 1190 beautiful islands that sit just one metre above sea level.
3. Mt Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
just 20 per cent of the imposing peak's original glaciers remain, due to rising temperatures.
no new snow is accumulating on the top.
4. Highlands, Iceland
untouched highland landscapes, from windswept rocky meadows to deep, blood-red canyons, are being drowned by Europe's biggest dam project.
5. The Three Gorges, China
a great wall of water will soon flood China's grandest canyons as the world's largest hydropower station and dam is built.
6. Bioluminescent Bays, Puerto Rico
sediment from coastal construction and diesel fuels from tour boats threaten to extinguish this stunning night-time glow.
all these just somehow touch that geography student deep down inside me, untouched for three years since graduating from secondary school.
i could still remember how psyched my geography teacher would be whenever she talked about all the different places and geological wonders.
and really, it isn't difficult to understand why, because although we only had the chance to see those places from books and documentary tv channels, it was already enough to stun us with their mere majestic beauty.
it was mind-boggling, trying to comprehend how these places could actually be formed just like that over near-countless billions of years, and now they will all be destroyed just like that in a heartbeat, possibly forever.
is it really justifiably, that we can exchange these marvels with our techonological advances?
is it even a remotely equal trade-off?
