and for the afternoon we were stranded.

isolated from the rest of the world while the underwater communication cables were damaged from the taiwan 7.1 quakes last night.

all the anguish cries, frustration and desperation to get one page to at least load, shows our absolute dependence on technology to connect to the rest of the world.

a sudden and bizzare feeling of loneliness and desolation came over at the thought of being severed from the rest of the world.

as if one had been washed up upon an unpopulation island, uncharted on any map and you are crippled of ways to get hold of help from anywhere.

on an less angsty note, taiwan president's son-in-law, Chao Chien-ming, is going to be jailed for six years.
i say, good for him, although he deserves a much longer jail term.

logically, if he had been embezzling money to the president, shouldn't said president be put on trial for accepting the cash?
then again, there is one most senseless law in taiwan that immunes the president of the current term from any investigation and trials.
